Blythe tells Penny Ling that she and the pets (Russell, Vinnie, Sunil, Pepper, Minka, and Zoe) are going to see another Oak Acorns baseball game at Downtown City's baseball stadium, but this time, they’re going without Penny Ling. Penny squeals joyfully, running around the Day Camp, exclaiming, “Oh yes, this is great! I can't wait for another baseball game because I’ve been waiting so long since the last one, and now we get to have a lot of fun and eat lots of good food and have fun—avoid this…”
Blythe quickly grabs Penny Ling and says, “Hold up right there, Penny Ling!” She then explains that Penny isn’t coming along this time. After what happened at the last three games, Blythe and the pets got kicked out by the security guard. Blythe says, “Roll flashback.”
The flashback shows the first time at Downtown City's baseball stadium for the Oak Acorns’ first game. Penny Ling tells Blythe she needs to go to the restroom by herself. However, it turns out she was really going to run down the stands. She jumped over the wall and ran across the field, then proceeded to ribbon dance with her ribbons in the middle of the stadium in front of thousands and thousands of people, who all laughed at her. They were kicked out and had to pay $1,000 due to Penny’s actions.
In the next game, Penny Ling stuck her paws over the wall to interfere with the Oak Acorns’ outfielder, attempting to catch a fly ball when it was beyond in play, getting Blythe and the pets kicked out again.
Finally, when Blythe and the pets were going to the third baseball game, Penny Ling saw her baseball bat and stuffed it in her secret backpack, which Blythe still can’t believe to this day. Penny snuck it into the ballpark and, once again, interfered with the Oak Acorns’ outfielder by hitting the opposing team’s fly ball out of the stadium. The other team’s umpire ruled the play a home run, causing the Oak Acorns to lose the game in the final inning. Blythe and the pets were blamed for everything, nearly charged with a larger fine, and almost sentenced to city-wide labor by the same security guard.
Back in the present, Blythe tells Penny Ling that to avoid causing any more trouble, Penny has to stay at the Day Camp to watch the game on TV while they go to the baseball game. Blythe hired a petsitter, Penny Ling’s owner, Mr. Pettus, to watch over Penny at the Day Camp while they’re at the game. After talking with Mr. Pettus, Blythe and the pets leave the Littlest Pet Shop and drive to the stadium.
As they drove toward the stadium, Russell suddenly remembered, “Hey, Blythe, remember the Security Guard who banned us last time?”
Zoe questioned, “Yeah, how are we going to get in safely without that guard remembering us?”
Blythe confidently replied, “I’ve got a plan. We’re going to use a different entrance and blend in with the crowd. He won’t recognize us this time.”
Meanwhile, back at the Day Camp, Mr. Pettus is watching the baseball game on TV, which is plugged into the wall. Penny Ling is hiding in the fire hydrant, frustrated. She says to herself that her owner is the petsitter, and he's watching her and the game on TV, while Blythe and the other pets are at the baseball game. Penny laments that Blythe can’t trust her anymore, especially after all those past games where she was just trying to have fun. Her chance of redemption is ruined. She wonders what she’s going to do.
Then, an idea forms in her mind—a perfect idea. Penny Ling decides she will sneak out of the Littlest Pet Shop, head to the baseball stadium, and disguise herself as a baseball player to help the Oak Acorns win the game. She imagines herself as a hero, redeeming herself not only to Blythe and the other pets but also to the crowd and their pets in the stadium. She envisions a sequence where she steps onto the field, the other team’s pitcher throws the ball, and she hits it, scoring a home run and winning the trophy. Penny imagines the cheers from the crowd and the admiration from everyone, thinking it would be her greatest and most redeeming moment of all time.
She recalls the last game where she unexpectedly hit the ball out of the stadium with surprising power. She believes she can use that same power to help the Oak Acorns win and make Blythe and the other pets proud.
However, Penny quickly realizes that Mr. Pettus is still there, watching the game on TV as her petsitter. If he notices her gone, he might get suspicious. Penny knows she needs to deal with Mr. Pettus first.
She carefully sneaks out of the fire hydrant in the Day Camp area and devises a plan. She shoots a tranquilizer at Mr. Pettus, putting him to sleep until nightfall. Once he’s unconscious, Penny ties him up with her ribbons to ensure he doesn’t wake up and stop her. Then, Penny grabs her backpack, stuffs her baseball bat inside, and heads to the bus stop.
At the bus stop, Penny waits for the bus to take her to Downtown City’s Baseball Stadium. When the bus finally arrives, Penny disguises herself as a passenger to avoid getting kicked out. She asks the bus driver to take her to the baseball stadium, where she knows Blythe and the pets are already present. She pays 25 cents in the fare box and takes a seat, eagerly anticipating her chance to redeem herself.
Meanwhile, Blythe and the other pets arrive at Downtown City's Baseball Stadium. Blythe parks her van in a parking spot and pays $20 to the parking lot attendant. After securing the van, she and the pets prepare to enter the stadium.
Meanwhile, Penny Ling had finally arrived at Downtown City's Baseball Stadium. She got out of the bus as it departed and removed her passenger disguise. As she made her way to the game, she stopped in her tracks when she saw Blythe and the other pets (Russell, Vinnie, Sunil, Pepper, Minka, and Zoe) arriving. They were all wearing peculiar disguises, which made Penny realize she would need to sneak past them to avoid being seen.
Penny quietly crept past Blythe and the others, heading towards the Downtown City's Baseball Stadium Gift Shop. From a distance, Zoe questioned Blythe about the effectiveness of their disguises. Blythe confidently replied that the internet claimed these baseball fan disguises would fool anyone as long as they acted like someone else.
Blythe and the other pets proceeded to the entrance of the stadium. Meanwhile, Penny Ling successfully made her way to the gift shop, where the sign read "Oak Acorns Dugout Store." She excitedly said to herself, “Alright, baseball disguise, here I come.” Fortunately, there were no officers watching at the moment.
As Blythe and the pets approached the entrance, a Security Guard dressed as a baseball stadium employee greeted the humans and pets, wishing them an enjoyable game.
"Enjoy the game." he said.
When it was Blythe and her group’s turn, Blythe reached for her wallet to pay for entry.
The Security Guard suddenly told them to hold it right there. He scrutinized their disguises and remarked that they looked familiar, as if he had seen them before. Blythe and the pets immediately went into their cover-up routine.
Blythe said, “Oh, um... Hello, Security Guard.”
Russell added, “Don’t mind us.”
Minka chimed in, “We’re agents here on business.”
Pepper explained, “We must wear these baseball fan disguises to, you know, conceal our identities.”
Vinnie nodded, “Right, Sunil?”
Sunil hesitated, then said, “Um, yeah, we’re agents from…”
Zoe quickly interjected, “The president. We’re all specially invited. No need to show anything.”
The Security Guard, slightly puzzled but not entirely convinced, responded, “Oh, really?”
Blythe and the pets eagerly affirmed, “Yeah!”
The Security Guard, deciding to let it slide, told them to come in and enjoy the game. Blythe thanked him, and she and the other pets entered the gate and made their way into the stadium.
Meanwhile, Penny Ling, in her panda-sized "Oak Acorns" baseball player uniform and cap, made it to the entrance of Downtown City's Baseball Stadium. Panting, she said, "Yeah! I finally made it to the entrance of the stadium."
She needed to get inside the ballpark and onto the field, but the gate was guarded by a security guard. Thinking quickly, Penny Ling realized she could use a secret entryway reserved for special people to get onto the field instantly. She figured it was located in the right field, so she made her way there.
Walking along the path on the right side of the stadium, she crawled under a table and through the secret entryway, finally making it inside the ballpark. She exclaimed, "Yes! I made it in. Now I’m on the field again."
Penny Ling ran past the baseball field and headed towards the Oak Acorns dugout bench where the roster clip was located. She stopped and said, "This appears to be the Oak Acorns roster for today’s game. Now I’ll add my name to the list."
She wrote her name, "Penny Ling," on the roster. Pleased with her work, she declared, "Excellent. Now I’m listed in the game as a pinch hitter."
Suddenly, the manager’s voice came from off-screen, "Excuse me. Who are you? And why are you here?"
The camera panned to the manager, who asked, "Well, I’m waiting. I asked, 'Who are you?'"
Penny Ling responded, "Uh, what do you mean, 'Who am I?' I’m one of your baseball players. Don’t you recognize me?"
The manager replied, "Well, I’m not sure about that. Although you do look like a baseball player on the team, you appear to be a little bigger than the others."
Penny Ling thanked the manager, saying, "Thank you," and then added, "Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to sit down and wait for the game to start." She took a seat on the bench.
The manager looked on, puzzled, and said, "Very strange. Although she looks like she’s on the team, I can’t shake the feeling that she’s someone I’ve seen before. Huh? Ugh, I must be losing my marbles again. I need to stop doing that, whatever."
The manager then went to check on the rest of the team to ensure they were ready for the game.
Penny Ling, satisfied with her successful disguise, thought, "He fell for that easily. Now I will wait for the game to begin. Soon, it will be my time to shine."
She unpacked her baseball bat and glove from her backpack and grabbed a hot dog with mustard and ketchup from nowhere. Sitting down, she began to eat it, preparing for her big moment.
Meanwhile, Blythe and the other pets were having a great time at the Downtown City's Baseball Stadium playground. After enjoying the playground, they strolled past the drink stands and headed to the food stand, where they grabbed hot dogs, popcorn, soda, and candy. Finding their favorite seats, they settled in to watch the game.
Blythe said to the pets, "Wow, pets, this is great! We got ourselves the best view of the ballpark, even better than the last three times. We can see everything from here."
Russell replied, "Of course, Blythe. You did find us the best seats to finally enjoy the best baseball game. Now that we have our food, each other, and no sign of Penny Ling, we're all set."
Blythe thanked him, saying, "Thanks, Russell. Our plan to get us in really worked. We are geniuses."
Zoe, as the crowd cheered, added, "That's right, Blythe. And look at that, here come all the baseball players."
The scene cut to the Oak Acorns getting their positions ready for the first inning of the game. Pepper chimed in, "Alright, let's enjoy."
Later, during the game, several shots of the first inning were shown. The Oak Acorns players were hitting the ball for home runs, with the ball flying out of the ballpark. Blythe, the other pets, and the crowd—both humans and pets—cheered enthusiastically for the Oak Acorns. The screen displayed, "Let's Go Oak Acorns!"
As the game progressed into the inning for the other team, The Littlestoners, they took the lead from the Oak Acorns. Russell said, "This is not good. The Oak Acorns had such a huge lead throughout the game, but The Littlestoners just had a big rally. Now they have taken the lead, and the Oak Acorns trail by one in the ninth inning with three outs remaining."
Minka, looking worried, said, "I'm sad. I don't want to see the Oak Acorns lose again."
Blythe reassured her, "Don't worry, Minka. The game is not over yet. The Oak Acorns still have a chance to win."
Meanwhile, on the field, one of the Oak Acorns players struck out, and another player stepped up to the batting area. He hit the ball and dashed towards first base. The manager, watching the game closely, said, "Well, this is not a good situation. After getting the lead, we’re now trailing by one with two outs left. The tying run is on second base, which is a perfect opportunity, but with two outs remaining and trailing by one, the stakes are high. We either need to win this game now or face an embarrassing loss to our tough rivals. All my hitters are tired and used up. Who can I put in as a pinch hitter for the potential winning run?"
Penny Ling stepped forward and said, "I believe I can fill that role, manager."
The manager looked at her and replied, "Oh yes, you. I remember you from earlier. Let's see." He checked the roster and said, "Your name is... Penny Ling. Right. And you’re pinch hitting for a pitcher spot, it looks like. Well then, Penny Ling, are you ready to give it your best shot and guide us to victory?"
Penny Ling replied with determination, "Yes! I’m ready to save the day and help the team win. My moment has come."
The manager encouraged her, "Well then, get out there and win this game for us. Everyone is counting on you."
Penny Ling grabbed her baseball bat and slowly walked towards the batting area. The manager, still puzzled, thought, "No matter how much I look past it, I can't shake the feeling that I’ve seen this panda before. Maybe at the ballpark or in previous games. Could it be... Penny Ling?"
He hesitated, "Wait a minute."
The scene cut to flashbacks of previous games. As the images replayed, the manager's expression changed from confusion to realization.
Back in the present, the manager said, "No. It can’t be. Can it really be her?"
Penny Ling stepped into the batting area and said, "It’s happening—the dream. It’s even more exciting than I thought."
The Littlestoners pitcher exclaimed, "What the? Who's this batter?" The camera then cuts to the shocked crowd, followed by Blythe and the other pets, who are surprised to see Penny Ling at the baseball field.
Minka asked, "Wait, hold on. Which player is this, Blythe?"
Blythe replied, "I don’t know, Minka. I’ve never seen her before."
Russell added, "She’s a little tall for a baseball player."
Zoe commented, "You're right, Russell. But not only does she look like a tall baseball player, she also looks like a giant panda."
Blythe said, "Wait, she looks like a giant panda?"
Pepper asked, "Blythe, is there something wrong?"
Blythe responded, "Um, well, it’s just... hold on a second." She grabbed her binoculars to get a better look.
The announcer's voice echoed, "Now pinch hitting for the Oak Acorns, um, a new player. Number one, Penny Ling."
Penny Ling appeared on the field, baseball bat in hand, ready to win the game for her team. Blythe, the other pets, and the crowd could hardly believe their eyes.
Blythe exclaimed angrily, "What? What in the? What the heck? It’s Penny Ling! How did she get here? And what on earth does she think she’s doing?"
Russell was in shock, "Oh my god! You’re right. It’s Penny Ling."
Zoe added, "We were sure we left that panda at the day camp with Mr. Pettus. How did she end up impersonating a baseball player? What is she thinking?"
Pepper said, "I’m really mad. Penny Ling has come to ruin the game again."
Blythe declared, "That’s definitely the last straw. Come on, pets, we’re going to stop her and give her the consequences for disobeying us again."
Blythe and the pets raced towards the field. Meanwhile, at the baseball field, The Littlestoners pitcher commented, "Look at this animal. She looks like a giant panda. How are the Oak Acorns going to use this panda girl? This is going to be so easy."
One of the baseball players asked the manager, "Um, manager? Are you sure this will work? I’ve never seen this player before. She looks kind of familiar, but she seems fit enough."
The manager replied, "Well, I have my doubts too, but she’s the only option I have right now. The at-bat should tell us who this player really is."
Another player said, "I don’t feel good about this. Something seems off about that player."
Another added, "Yeah! She seems a little tall to be a player, and she looks familiar for some reason."
Another player commented, "Now that you mention it, you’re right. She looks like... no, she can’t be."
Meanwhile, Penny Ling was still at the batting area, preparing to hit a home run. The Oak Acorns umpire announced, "Batter up."
The Littlestoners pitcher laughed and prepared to throw the ball towards Penny Ling. Penny Ling thought, "This is it. Game on the line. I’m actually batting. This is great. I hope Blythe and the other pets are watching."
As Blythe and the other pets continued their race to stop Penny Ling, they made their way through the stadium. Fortunately, there were no officers around.
Back at the batting area, The Littlestoners pitcher threw the ball towards Penny Ling, but she missed. The umpire said, "Strike one."
Penny Ling said, "Gosh darn it."
The Littlestoners catcher threw the ball back to the pitcher. Penny Ling resolved, "He’s thrown that one by me. I won’t miss this time." She got ready for her next swing.
With Blythe and the other pets still racing to reach the field, Penny Ling faced the pitcher again. The pitcher threw the ball, and Penny missed once more. The umpire announced, "Strike two. No balls, two strikes."
Penny Ling said, while the Littlestoners catcher prepared to throw again, "I’m down with two strikes. One more and I’m out, and my chance is ruined. The team will be on the edge of defeat."
The Littlestoners catcher readied the ball for the final pitch. Penny Ling thought, "But I’m not giving up. This is my moment, and I must fulfill my destiny."
The Oak Acorns baseball team, manager, and the crowd watched in anticipation. Blythe and the other pets finally arrived at the field, and Blythe shouted, "There she is! Pets, let’s get her!"
Blythe and the pets charged towards Penny Ling, who was preparing to hit the ball. With a nod to the 2005 Disney movie Chicken Little, Penny Ling declared, "Today is a new day."
The Littlestoners catcher taunted, "You’re dead meat, panda girl," and threw the ball. In slow motion, the ball flew towards Penny Ling. She swung her bat with amazing skill and strength, hitting the ball perfectly.
The crowd gasped in excitement, and Blythe and the pets exclaimed, "Ah!"
The ball soared into the stands, and the announcer declared, "Wow! Penny Ling finally hit the ball. It’s going, it’s going, and it’s a home run! Penny Ling did it!"
The crowd erupted in cheers. Penny Ling exclaimed, "Wow! I can’t believe it. I finally hit a home run."
Blythe encouraged, "Run, Penny Ling, run!"
Penny Ling and another player raced to the home plate. The crowd continued to cheer for her impressive hit. Humans in the stands marveled:
"Wow! I can’t believe it. That player was a panda the whole time and hit a home run!"
"I had a feeling there was something special about that player. She’s a real player after all."
"At least she’s still just a panda, and she won the game for us."
"What an incredible panda. How did she pull that off?"
"How did she manage to hit that ball and win the game? And how did no one notice a giant panda in a baseball uniform?"
Penny Ling basked in the cheers, with the crowd chanting her name. Blythe, the other pets, and the Oak Acorns baseball team lifted her up in celebration.
Penny Ling chanted, "Give me a P, give me an E, give me a double N, give me a Y, give me an L, give me an I, give me an N, give me a G. What does that stand for?"
The crowd, the Oak Acorns baseball team, and Penny Ling chanted together, "Penny Ling! Penny Ling! Penny Ling!"
A baseball player commented, "I knew it. It was that giant panda. She helped us win the game. She’s the best."
On the screen, the words "Penny Ling is the best" appeared with fireworks, including a firework displaying Penny Ling’s face.
One of The Littlestoners players said, "Look, it’s the panda again. Haven’t we seen her before?"
Another player said, "Yes, she’s the panda who danced on the field before. She’s the player who hit the home run and made us lose the game."
The first player admitted, "I guess we lost."
The Littlestoners fans booed their team. One fan said, "Let’s throw our food at the Oak Acorns' tough rivals, The Littlestoners!"
The crowd agreed, and they started throwing food, soda, popcorn, hot dogs, and candy at The Littlestoners baseball team.
Penny Ling said, "Oh my god! I can’t believe this. I finally hit a home run and made the Oak Acorns win the game."
Blythe replied, "Oh my, we were impressed when you hit the ball and scored a home run, weren’t we?"
Penny Ling said, "Yes. I hit the ball with my awesome skills and strength to save the Oak Acorns from losing."
Russell added, "Well, that was impressive. You made the team win the game."
Minka chimed in, "I can't believe you made the Oak Acorns win the game!" Pepper followed with, "You made Blythe and us proud for saving the Oak Acorns from losing."
Right after their compliments, interviewers rushed over to Penny Ling, eager to get her thoughts on scoring the home run that secured the victory for the team. Penny, overwhelmed by all the attention, humbly answered their questions, basking in her newfound fame.
Later that night, back at the Littlest Pet Shop in the Day Camp Area, Mr. Pettus, now awake and untied, was joined by Ms. Twombly, Blythe, Penny Ling (carrying the baseball game trophy), and the other pets. Vinnie asked, "So, how was it about your little performance today? It was, how you say, pretty outstanding—something that I'd never forget."
Sunil added, "Yeah! I never knew you had it in you, Penny Ling, to be a baseball player."
Minka exclaimed, "I am very surprised by what Penny Ling can do."
Penny Ling, blushing slightly, responded, "Oh, really? Wow, everyone. I never thought you'd all be impressed by everything. I just hit the ball and scored the home run."
Blythe then said, "Yes, Penny Ling, it was impressive. After everything that happened at the last three games, you've not only redeemed yourself, but you've made everybody proud. You're a baseball player now, and a hero too!"
Penny Ling beamed with pride. "Yes, Blythe. I am a baseball hero. And I can appear on TV as a baseball player for the Oak Acorns team in every game that you, Blythe, and the pets—including Mr. Pettus—can watch on TV."
Blythe replied, "Thank you."
The other pets and Mr. Pettus echoed, "Thank you," as well.
Then, Penny Ling, along with Blythe, the other pets, and Mr. Pettus, began chanting, "Give me a P, give me an E, give me a double N, give me a Y, give me an L, give me an I, give me an N, give me a G. What does that stand for?"
Everybody shouted in unison, "Penny Ling!"
As they all laughed and cheered, the screen slowly faded to black, bringing the special episode to a heartfelt and joyous end.
