Pump Up the Panda is the tenth episode of the fourth season of Littlest Pet Shop and the eighty-eighth episode overall.
Overview[]
Blythe debuts her new pet beachwear line; Penny Ling meets a lobster eager to get her in shape. Meanwhile, Sunil and Vinnie face off in an intense sandcastle-building contest.
Summary[]
The pets are trying to guess what Blythe's surprise for them is. Blythe enters the day camp with her surprise and reveals it to show the Blythe Style Summer Sensations Beachwear.
Blythe and the pets go to Seal Beach Bay. Blythe tells them to show off their new beachwear and to look good doing it. The pets bury Blythe in sand from the neck down and then run off to enjoy the beach.
As Sunil and Vinnie walk in the sand in their new swimsuits, they notice everyone is staring at them and assume it is because of their new suits. They stumble upon a sign for a sand castle competition and as Sunil and Vinnie throw insults, they challenge each other to the sand castle competition.
Penny Ling and Pepper play frisbee. Penny runs to get the frisbee, which is stuck in the sand, and is panting and clearly exhausted. In her exhausted state, she tries to throw the frisbee to Pepper, but it does not get very far. Pepper runs to Penny and asks if she is okay, to which she says she is fine. Pepper runs back to where she was before and throws the frisbee again. Penny runs to get the frisbee, where she runs into Snappy Clawster, who is yelling at two crabs doing push-ups. He notices she is panting and out of shape. Snappy suggests Penny should train with him since he is the best crustacean trainer at Seal Beach Bay. Penny agrees and Snappy orders her to do jumping jacks.
Zoe tells Blythe about how everyone loves the pets' new swimsuits. Leonardo Pardo comes forward and says how amazed he is with the swimsuits and asks who made them. Blythe introduces herself and says they were hers and Leonardo hands Blythe his card. He tells her he wants her swimsuits featured on his website and Blythe enthusiastically agrees. Leonardo says he has to go back to get his photo equipment from his car and tells Blythe to stay with the pets where they are. Carrying Snappy on her back, Penny runs behind them. Blythe and the pets watch in confusion.
Leonardo is photographing Zoe. After he finishes taking the photos, he tosses her a treat. As Leonardo gets up, Blythe asks if he would like to try any other props or locations for the shoot. Leonardo states it is not about the backdrops or props, but about the clothes and he can always just edit the photos afterwards.
Sunil and Vinnie are making their sand castles. Sunil leaves and Vinnie opens up a bag of gecko treats and a seagull swoops down and tries to grab the bag from him. Vinnie flies up into the air, holding onto the bag of treats and he eventually falls face-first into the sand after the seagull successfully gains control of the treats. The seagull drops the bag of treats on Sunil's sand castle and Vinnie tries to get the treats, but some seagulls swoop down and start to tear up the bag and eating the treats, ruining Sunil's sand castle. Sunil returns and is horrified, then shoos away the birds. When he sees the treats, he assumes Vinnie sabotaged him. Vinnie denies the accusation, but Sunil does not believe him and walks away.
Penny is dragging a hammock containing Snappy in it through the sand while Snappy uses his megaphone to yell at her. Penny tries to make small talk with him, but he rejects the notion and tells her to stop. Penny assumes he meant to stop exercising, so she stops and drinks his water, but then Snappy explains he meant for her to stop talking, so she spits out the water onto his face.
A man yells, "Shark!" when there is a fin in the water. People run and trample Vinnie's sand castle. Sunil, who was wearing a fake shark fin on his head, comes out of the water, implying this was a ploy so Vinnie's castle would get destroyed.
At the day camp, Blythe asks Russell, Zoe, Pepper, and Minka why Sunil and Vinnie were so angry. Russell explains they were destroying each others' sand castles all day. Penny Ling comes out from behind the tree and announces that with the help of her trainer Snappy, she has a new and improved body. Pepper says she looks the same and Penny becomes frustrated and mentions how hard she has been working to get a better body, but remains the same. Blythe says that Penny working out is awesome, but states she should not be trying to change her body. Blythe receives a text from Leonardo on her phone saying that the photos of the pets' swimsuits are on his website now. She checks his website on her tablet and Blythe is taken aback when she sees he edited the pets' pictures to make them look anthropomorphic. Blythe and the pets are horrified and an angry Blythe suggests they go back to the beach tomorrow and find Leonardo and make him post the original photos he took, not the edited ones.
Sunil and Vinnie are sad because they have to go back to the beach tomorrow and will have to see someone else's sand castle get crowned the winner. Vinnie says he wished they never spent so much time sabotaging each other and Sunil says Vinnie started it, but Vinnie explains how the seagull dropped the treats on Sunil's sand castle. Sunil says he wishes they had enough time to rebuild their castles. However, he then points out they could make one together to save time.
Blythe and the pets return to the beach to find Leonardo photographing a dog in a lifeguard costume. Blythe yells at him and explains how he edited their photos so much that they are unrecognizable. Leonardo says it is just how he edits the photos. Blythe states it is unacceptable because nobody should ever feel they have to change their bodies or faces. Leonardo asks if she wants him to take down the pictures from his site and ruin the chances of her Summer Sensations being sold. Blythe says she wants him to replace the over-edited pictures with the original pictures or else she will expose him to the whole world, so Leonardo agrees.
Penny finds Snappy on top of a seal, yelling at him as he does crunches. She says she feels really amazing, so she wants to continue her training. Snappy says it is not working out with them and Penny asks why. Snappy explains it is because he pushed her to the limit, but her body has not changed and that reflects on his training skills poorly. Penny Ling becomes angry and takes his seashell megaphone, proclaiming that this is her natural body and that she is fine with what she is and then walks away in a huff. A wave comes crashing and carries Snappy and the seal into the sea. They are unable to swim and yell for help. Upon seeing them, Penny swims over and saves them. She carries them to shore and asks if they are okay. Snappy thanks her and says he was wrong about her and that she is amazing and the exercise payed off. A dog walks over and asks Penny where she got her incredible stamina. She says it was from Snappy's training.
Sunil and Vinnie have completed their sand castle, which looks similar to the Taj Mahal. The judge walks over and as Sunil and Vinnie turn around, a wave destroys their sand castle. The judge looks up from his clipboard and is horrified; Sunil and Vinnie boast about their sand castle, unaware it has been ruined. The judge walks away and Sunil and Vinnie notice their sand castle had been destroyed. Vinnie says at least they knew how amazing it had looked.
Sunil and Vinnie arrive where Blythe and the other pets have their umbrella and towel set up. Blythe asks if they won the sand castle contest. They said they did not, but at least they knew how amazing their sand castle was. Blythe receives a call from Leonardo, who says people love the original photos of the pets and Blythe and the pets rejoice.
