Seeing Red is the twenty-fourth episode of the fourth season of Littlest Pet Shop and the one hundred and second episode overall.
Overview[]
Blythe writes a short story based on her parents when they were teenagers. Penny Ling is curious about a red panda who attends the day camp.
Summary[]
Blythe is typing up a short story draft for a contest at her school. She is typing a love letter from her father to her mother from when they were her age for her short story competition. The pets become emotional after hearing the love letter. After reading a part from her short story, Penny Ling starts to cry because of how sweet it was. Penny proceeds to cry in the dumbwaiter while Blythe, Zoe, Pepper, and Minka try to cheer her up.
In the dumbwaiter, Penny Ling tells Zoe, Pepper, and Minka she vows to not cry for the rest of the day. They do not believe her. They reach the day camp. Pepper opens the elevator to Vinnie telling her that Sunil wrote a poem about her broken squirting flower. Penny Ling suddenly bursts into tears again and Vinnie is soaked.
Blythe walks into the day camp, and Mrs. Twombly asks her to take a visitor to the day camp. Blythe brings the pet to the day camp, and introduces her as Scarletta Redd, a red panda. She tells Scarletta about the resident panda, Penny Ling, and then proceeds to the dumbwaiter because she has to finish her short story. Before closing the dumbwaiter door, she reminds the pets to make Scarletta feel right at home.
Blythe was in the middle of typing her short story when she suddenly hears Roger cleaning the hallway with a vacuum and realized that it's "Deep cleaning day". She then blocks out the noise by using earbuds as she continues typing.
Penny meets up with Scarletta, who was relaxing in her cushion, and asks if she ever cried before. Scarletta claimed that she did cry once when her owner stepped on her foot, but she shook it off after a while. She then states that she toughened up despite having to feel emotions at a drop of a pinecone. Penny claims that only "Cuteness and sweetness" is what she describes herself since there's not much going on for being a panda. Scarletta then asked her to join the Tough Panda Club in order for Penny to "Toughen up". Pepper showed up to try and explain the joke to Penny, but Scarletta stopped her and warned about Penny not being the measuring stick of both cute and sweet.
While Blythe and Youngmee go out for yogurt, Roger was cleaning Blythe's room when he checked her story draft from her laptop and immediately assumed that Blythe would run away with her boyfriend. Blythe returns to retrieve her laptop and leaves again, not noticing Roger worrying about what her daughter is going to do at Downtown City Park.
Penny was hyped up in attending the Tough Panda Club, saying that other pandas will acknowledge her at the meeting. Scarletta then gave Penny a tutorial on how to be tougher, from her voice and her posture, to her angry face.
During lunch, Roger tells Blythe if she made any new friends recently, but she said that he already knows all of her friends before she leaves the kitchen. Roger then worries once more, knowing full well that he'll still be with her even if he's alone.
Penny was looking at the mirror, practicing on being tough, when the pets asked her what's she's doing. Penny then responded and said that since she's a tough panda, she'll be joining the Tough Panda Club tonight at Downtown City Park.
Roger was looking up 'How to tell your daughter that you accidentally read what was on her laptop while you were dusting it and found some information you shouldn't have.' on the internet, hoping to find any solutions to the problem, only to end up with no results. He then decided to watch 'Funny videos of dads dusting' in order to get his mind off of Blythe running away with someone whose name starts with 'R'.
Zoe, Minka and Pepper entered Blythe's room, explaining the situation to Blythe that Penny is planning on going to some tough panda meeting tonight, and that, due to how much sensitivity Penny has, a single incident will lead her to tears. But Blythe told the pets that because they did hurt Penny's feelings, she decided to find the answer on how to counter her behavior by attending the Tough Panda Club meeting all by herself. Despite this, Blythe then said that she can't explain to Roger the reason why she needs to go out tonight since he can't trust her ability to speak to the pets. She then dismissed Zoe, Minka and Pepper, promising them not to say a single word about their conversation. Roger shows up and asks Blythe about going out to a new restaurant, but when Blythe said that she already had plans to go to the park, Roger cries, runs to the bathroom and shuts the door.
Scarletta says her goodbyes to the pets as she leaves the day camp, but before she departs, Scarletta tells Penny to come to the Tough Panda Meeting at Downtown City Park at nighttime all by herself.
It's nighttime at Downtown City, as Blythe tells Roger that she's leaving to see a friend. Roger then asked her if he can drive Blythe to the park, but she declines and eventually goes off on her own, not noticing her father was following her.
As Penny questions on whether or not if she has what it takes to become a tough panda, she fantasized on what would it be like to join the Tough Panda Club. After a moment, she feels determined to be tough and proceeds towards Downtown City Park.
At the park, Penny gets spooked by a bat, who intimidates her, but shakes it off, grabs the bat, and intimidates him before questioning where the Tough Panda Club is. She arrives at the Oak tree in the middle of the park where Scarletta was waiting from behind the tree. Penny questions where the meeting is, but Scarletta claims that there's no meeting, and that the Tough Panda Club doesn't exist. Penny then told her that since she did need anything to prove that she's 'sweet, cute and insanely adorable', she's a tough panda nevertheless.
Blythe arrives, surprising Penny from the bushes, and said that both she and the pets are worried for Penny, and yet she wouldn't worry. Penny then asked her if it's ok for pandas to give hugs. Blythe approves and hugs her, telling her not to stop giving hugs from the 'sweetest and toughest panda she know'.
Roger sees Blythe hugging someone and attempts to interfere, only to realize that she's hugging Penny, much to his confusion. When asked by Roger about running away with someone whose name starts with 'R', Blythe told him that she was just typing a short story on her laptop for her essay contest at Downtown City High, claiming that 'R' stood for Roger and 'B' for Betty. Roger then apologizes Blythe for not trusting her in the first place while Blythe apologizes for not allowing her dad to reason his motives as the two reconcile. As Blythe and Roger leave the park, Scarletta, seeing a touching moment between the two, bawled her eyes out and said to Penny that it's okay to cry sometimes, to which Penny agrees.

- The episode title can be refer to Roger own angry because of Blythe's "boyfriend" situation and later on Roger's own embarrassment after finding out the truth and Scarletta Redd being a red panda.

Act 1
Scarletta: Let me ask you, kid. Is what your friends said before, true? About you bein' so sensitive and all?
Penny Ling: I guess so. I mean, my friends love me and they think I'm real cute, but-
Scarletta: But it's not all there is to bein' a panda, right?
Penny Ling: That's just it! I'm afraid maybe that is all there is to me. Just cuteness and sweetness.

Scarletta: Hey, kid, ya wanna pointer?
Penny Ling: Of course!
Scarletta: Well, if you want these other pets here to see you as more than cute, maybe try not gigglin' so much.

Penny Ling: This is scariest thing I've ever done. I'm not sure I have what it takes to be a tough panda.
